Hoverdal Plantation

Hoverdal Plantation was planted in the late 1800s. There are jogging and hiking trails, shelter sites and campsites. There are also good opportunities to find mushrooms in the area.

Already in ancient times people lived in this area, their burial mounds still tell their story. However, the shifting sands in the area have for many years made life difficult for the area's inhabitants. It was only when Austrian pine was planted in 1882 that the sand was brought under control. In 1891, the state bought the heath farm Store Hoverdal and the associated land. The planting of the new Hoverdal Plantation was to begin.

The new plantation helped to keep the sand under control and attracted both animals and new plants. Today, it has become the very varied nature area of Hoverdal Plantation. We can only recommend it

Really nice Viking village with a cozy café. There are employees present in the houses who are happy to give explanations. To our delight, it is also in German, which is not to be expected in a foreign country. The small shop, which also serves as a ticket office, offers jewelry and everyday items.

Much to play and discover

A beautifully landscaped area, there is a lot to play and discover outside. The exhibits in the main building are interesting and child-friendly. The additional offers are also diverse and carefully planned. The staff was always nice and helpful. We will gladly come back!

Very cool Viking village

Very cool Viking village with many attractions. We could do archery, bake bread and more. You also get a lot of information about the Viking Age and the actors are very authentic. You can even find a blacksmith shop here. We can only recommend it, a visit is worth it.

Impressive reconstruction

Impressive reconstruction of a Viking village that you can touch. There are fun activities (e.g. archery, leather bag and bracelet making) for children (around 4 to 14 years old). We spent a good 4 to 5 hours exploring everything in peace and doing the activities with the kids. If you are local and interested in Vikings, you should not miss this highlight!
