Skjern Vindmølle Moved Again and Again

Skjern Vindmølle had a turbulent history. When new winds blew the railroad toward West Jutland in the late 1800s, the mill was moved from Albæk, 7 km east of Skjern, to the village square. As Skjern grew at a breakneck pace, eventually not much wind reached the windmill. But when the dark clouds of World War I brought an energy crisis in their wake, the mill was needed once again. It was moved to Marupvej, where it has stood for more than 100 years.

Skjern Vindmølle

Very welcoming

Was there for the first time. But was very welcoming. Nice elderly ladies offering tea, coffee and homemade things. A small art exhibition was also just there. 👍

Skjern Vindmølle

Received a thorough guided tour

We got a really good tour, with good explanation of all the functions of the mill. As well as the history of the building of the mill, which has been moved 2 times. We say thank you very much.
